Some individuals tend to think that types of art like painting and making music are not capable of enhancing the quality of individuals’ lives and believe that the government should spend on other significant things. Although there are more important issues, I am convinced that art is the key aspect of our lives, because it serves as a stress reduction tool and leads to health improvements.
To start with, it improves people’s quality of lives as a stress reduction tool. It means that by creating art such as painting or making music, a person is likely to feel a sense of relaxation and it helps to decrease anxiety or stress level. Moreover, it can assist as an opportunity to express complex emotions and feelings. For example, a study about psychology showed that 84% of people are less likely to experience negative and detrimental emotions while drawing and singing.
Secondly, it is crucial for a person’s well-being, because art therapy can result in better mental health and cognitive enhancement. In other words, music has the ability to improve creativity, attention and memory skills. Furthermore, people can cope with mental health issues, including depression or anxiety. Consequently, it can foster self-awareness and strengthen self-esteem. For example, Van Gogh, who suffered from depression in order to get rid of mental health problems started his artwork, which in the end developed his self-awareness and helped him to overcome it.
In conclusion, while some assume that art does not have the ability to boost standard of living, I firmly believe that art enriches overall living conditions due to a healthy lifestyle.
