Health is a critical topic that every human being must prioritise over other matters. It involves physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Each aspect plays a vital role in our lives. In connection with that, we have our own strategies on how can we live longer and healthier. Our world today offers many options. While some people believe that practicing a healthy lifestyle is a key to extend their life spans, others perceive that the medicines, in all forms, are far more essential to suffice the nutrients that our physical bodies need to achieve longer life.
Conventionally, some people rely on consuming health foods such as vegetables, fruits, and right amount of meat and doing physical exercises as ways for them to live longer and avoid developing diseases. Research suggest that most vegetables and fruits provide more nutrients and minerals that supplements and medicines in the market cannot offer. They assert that medicines and supplements are processed. Thus, it might discharge some important components that are needed for the body to grow and combat or prevent certain diseases to penetrate. In that regard, most doctors advocate people to prioritise eating vegetables and fruits instead of the processed and hyperprocessed foods that are being sold in various fastfood chains and restaurants. Apart from the foods, some people believe that with regular exercises, we can be able to achieve a healthy body. By staying fit, we can perform our daily activities effectively. Our body must be treated as our homes. It must not be neglected and must be taken care and maintained constantly, so by doing physical activities, we allow our body to move and stretch. In that way, our system including our mental well-being will be more active and prohibit stagnation.
On the other hand, some people believe on the power of medical and pharmaceutical advancements. They avail various medicines and supplements that are available in the market. Medicines come in many forms such as in capsule or syrup. They find it more convenient and easier to consume. Most people in their old age cannot consume large amount of foods, so medicines and supplements are the answer to support their physical health. More so, they cannot do physical exercises anymore as their muscles and bones are somewhat brittle. By taking medicines, they can still have the same nutrients or energy from the foods and activities that they can no longer consume or do. Furthermore, most medicines that are being sold are even cheaper than vegetables and fruits. So, it provides accessibility to all types of people even in the marginalized sector. The state or government itself is advocating researchers to develop medicines out of vegetables and fruits to provide more cost-effective answers to combat existing and developing diseases.
From the viewpoints presented so far, I believe that the traditional way is still more reliable. Eating healthy foods such as vegetables, fruits, and right amount meat gives us a certainty to be healthy. In the same manner, doing regular exercise aids in making our body healthier and stronger. Medicines are often to be experimental. There are many medicines that are being introduced in the markets nowadays. Some of these are in their trial period, so people have no guarantee or exact assurance of its effectiveness and efficacy. Moreover, chemical and preservatives are being added in the development of medicines and supplements, so the natural nutrients a certain vegetable or fruit has might be compromised. However, I think taking medicines are somewhat essential, but we must suffice it with balanced diet and regular physical activities.
In summary, these views are both worth to consider.
