Many people say that mathematics and philosophy should be compulsory in school curriculum, while others state that students should have an option to choose prefered subjects. In my opinion, in primary and secondary schools pupils must study maths and philosophy; however, high school students should have an opportunity of vocational trainings.
Primary argument in favour of making philosopy and mathematics compulsory is that they provide foundamental knowledge that people will definitely benefit from in fututre in their personal or professional lives. These two sciences developing the way people thinking. For instance, maths has a significant imact on people critical thinking, provides an understanding of financial bases and help to enhance analytical mindset. Moreover, philosophy encourages students to discover values, knowledge and the nature of the world, dive deeper into various theories and ancient existency.
Alternatively, many students can choose subjects they are interested in and dedicate their time to studies, that will be valuable for them in future. Nowadays, people have a wide range of job opportunities and vocational trainings might be more efficient for their careers. If students already know in what field they would like to work, related subjects will prepare them to a labor market and make them confident and competative among others. For example, if some students would like to become actors, they will choose drama and art classes, instead of spending their time on philosopy or mathematics.Therefore, in my opinion, maths and philosophy are crucial for children development and undrestanding basic practises. Nevertheless, I believe that they should be mandatory in primary and secondary schools, and in the high school students should have an option to choose prefered courses. As the result, they will become self-confident and independent learnears, that will succeed in their future roles.
In conclusion, education system has a crucial impact on people lives and should introduce to them the most essential subjects that will be beneficial and make them good professionals. That is why, students should be able to choose what they want to learn, but only at the high school.
