Some people argue that children should be encouraged to compete with each other at school, while others believe that schools should teach children to work together instead. In my view I fully disagree that students should compete against each other instead.
On the one hand, students should always compete. Competition encourages students to study harder and achieve higher grades, because they want to try to prove themselves. Students competing for the highest marks in mathematics may spend more time studying and improving their problem solving skills. As a result students will now have a higher standard for their studying goals.
On the other hand, competition prepares children for university admissions and competitive job markets, because their ability to improve constantly will help them make a name for their selves. For example students learn how to handle pressure, overcome failure and work toward their goals. Moreover that would prepare them for the future and real world problems. There are some reasons why people believe that schools should teach children to work together instead, and that may just be because they want their kids not to experience unnecessary stuff like fatigue caused by studying, or emotional stress. Nevertheless I believe these reasons do not outweigh the benefits of encouraging children to compete against each other.
In conclusion, Although some people believe that making children always work as a team is mandatory, which may be reasonable, I believe that children should be encouraged to compete because it is necessary for their academic status and future goals.
