Nowadays, a rising number of people are concerned about whether the staff appearance or work quality should be focused by employers. While I agree that a dress code is essential for portraying a professional image, I would argue that focusing on the quality of work should also be considered.
On the one hand, there are 2 reasons why employees should wear certain uniforms. Firstly, it reflects positive reputation of the company. This means that by regarding a service with great clothes, clients will have confidence in a well – presented working area. As a result, this can lead to increased business opportunities. Secondly, a dress code is necessary in some certain cases. For example, in client – facing roles, like manager or service supporter, this policy essential. This can lead to better navigation in services like airlines, as customers will less likely to be confused when looking for help.
On the other hand, I am of the opinion that the importance of concentrating on work quality should not be underestimated. The first thing is that when staffs are able to wear their favourite costumes and accessories even if the suits look rather unprofessional, they will be confident about themselves, thinking that they will be able to be productive. This means that workers are motivated in their free working environment, which potentially lead to an increased creative mindset. This can result in an enhancement of overall productivity. Moreover, in today’s tech – driven industries, a strict dress code may be perceived as outdated. Simply because these industries prefer the project results and successfulness rather than a professional appearance. For instance, fields like designing, coding and content creation usually have staffs wearing casual clothes instead of the gorgeous suit like office workers.
In a nutshell, although I agree that a dress code is essential for portraying a professional view, I would contend that the perspective of the quality of work should also has its standing ground. A balance should be struck between these two to achieve the best outcome.
