People around the world are actively taking steps to enhance the economy of the place in which they were born. In my opinion, I partially agree with the statement that efforts are being made to improve the situation. This essay will present my opinions and views on this idea.
There are several reasons why I think so. Firstly, global citizens can bring innovative ideas, expertise and breakthrough that are crucial for the development of economy, because they are usually highly educated people that have accumulated many years of experience and ready to make use of them to enhance fields, like technology and agriculture. Secondly, they may start investing and establishing businesses. After acquiring enough skills from all of the available sources in other regions, some citizens return to their countries and set up a company selling products that help consumers in domestic chores and industrial activities. This not only helps to make life of people in their home countries easier, but also creates extra jobs for the ones in need, lifting them out of unemployment and fostering a stronger overall economy. Finally, those who study and settle down abroad often send a part of their income back home to condescendingly support their families and give the government a hand to do work that benefits the local people’s lives, allowing them to reallocate their funds on more important stuff.
However, this idea is not always true. Ever since travelling abroad and settle there were a thing, the concept of brain drain was arisen and has become increasingly common. Brain drain is when a person who has the opportunity to live and set their homes overseas, they seemingly become the citizens of that nation and barely repay the countries that raised them. This seriously damages many aspects their home countries, as a lot of resources, money and efforts have been put into bringing them up, but all of that are for nothing because the talents and the workforce are headed to other countries. However, the global citizens are not entirely to blame, since their home countries may not offer them the opportunity they need or enough salary for them to survive.
In conclusion, my view is that while global citizens do contribute to many aspects of their places of birth, there are not few cases where they almost or completely abandon that country, partly due to the lack of opportunity and low income it offers.
