It is argued that high school students should be motivated to challenge their teachers to enrol the academic standards, others think this practice would break classrooms discipline and bream respect for teacher. I support the idea that pupils should be encouraged to challenge and offer criticism with their teachers.
Some people are concerned that pupils encouraged to ask questions and offer criticism could undermine authority of teachers. High school students are still developing emotional, and their criticism might not always polite and helpful. If students are encouraged to challenge their teachers, it could create an atmosphere of disrespect. Consequently it might become difficult for teachers to manage their classroom effectively.
Others believe that encouraging students to voice their opinions can bring positive change to the education process. When students are allowed to ask questions and offer feedbacks, it can improve learning. Teachers can easily understand which methods work and change their lessons to meet the needs to class. For example, if students express a teachers method is confusing, teacher can adapt the lesson and explain the topic using an alternative approach. This type of open dialogue creates a productive learning.
In conclusion, while there is a high risk offer criticism teachers might to a lack of discipline, I believe that the benefits of open communication outweigh the disadvantages.
