We live in a century of massive tecnological breakthroughs. This increases the speed of already rapid globalisation, which, in my oppinion, is good. The begining of 21st century is also symbolized by fast groth of radical movements, which often tend to threaten society or even commit some distructive actions against it.
Some individuals suggest that special services could deal with such organisations by simply using all the technological advantages 21st century has brought us. In other words these individuals propose to controll such organisations via spying them by having access to all their phone calls and messages they send to each other. Those proposing such solution believe it to be nescessary in order to prevent these organisations from causing to society any harm, as all their activity will be monitored and so special services will be aware of their plans. On the other hand some individuals oppose such measures, as they think that it may affect other people and their privacy. And they have their point, for it really can turn out that way, because not to take any risks special institutions can simply acess everybody’s mobile device and so everyone will lose their privacy. Furthermore governmental structures are not invincible for hacker attacks, which can and already have cause majore personal data leaks.
I personally find arguments against governmental access to phone call records and messages in sake of safety more reasonable that those for it. All in all I assume that government should access personal data, such as messages or phone calls, only when it is urgent and necessary.
