In this day and age, junk foods is the topic that controversial for people to discuss about the government should taxes on unhealthy foods and subsidies for healthy options to combat obesity or not. I personally think that I agree with that statement.
First of all, subsidies on healthy foods could encourage people to choose them over unhealthy portions. This can lead to a decrease in obesity rates as more people are encourage to consume healthy foods. Moreover, if goverment taxes on unhealthy foods, it can discourage their consumption and encourage healthier food choices. By making unhealthy foods more expensive, they become less appeal and encourage people to look for healthier choices instead. This can have a positive impact onpeople’s health.
Additionally, Such policies can be highly unpopular with the public, as they can be perceived as overly restrictive and encroaching on individual’s freedoms. While taxes can be an effective deterrent, it does not address the underlying social and societal factors that contribute to obesity. For example, eating too much healthy food also cause to obesity and gain weight.
To sum up, this policies have the drawn backs and positive. But taxation on unhealthy food and subsidies for healthy options are only a part of addressing obesity. So people should do more excercise and combined with more healthier portions.
