The first group of people think that governments should invest more money on public transport in order to reduce traffic congestion and pollution, while others believe that erecting more roads and highways is more effective decision. In my opinion, investing more money on public transport is much more effective solution rather than building more highways and roads. In this essay, i will discuss both views and argue, why the first group of people are right.
To begin with, spending more money on public transportation is the most effective method to reduce the air pollution and traffic jams. This is because of cheapness and convenience of the transport, if governments invest more money on public transport, people will use this transport much more often rather than now. For example, in the UK buses have 2 floors which increases the amount of seats and it is much more interesting seat on the second floor than on the first, this changes in transport leads to engaging people to use more this buses much more often.
However, erecting more roads and highways is not a terrible idea. If governments build more roads and highways, there will be much more space which will be used by vehicles, which leads to a reducing traffic jams. For instance, in the UK there more and wider roads, which allows to reduce traffic congestion. But, investing more money on public transport is much cheaper rather than a building more roads, due to this reason, i believe that first method is much efficient than the second.
In conclusion, the government should invest more money on public transport because of this method is more efficient. I support this idea because it is much cheaper, much convenient for people and much efficient.
