In contemporary society, gobal is as much as developed and needs to grow up more. While I acknowledge the importance of building up well-being enonomic passion from governments, I firmly believed that the modern cities not only needs to have the innovative changes but also combine with environmental protection.
One major reason priorizing substainability over the concentration on economic growth that is the recover of destroyed environment has more long-term than ever. Society is constantly evolving due to the creativity of human, but nature is not having self-healing capability. For example, the rapid increase in production of consumer goods and profit-driven in businesses have led to the redundant supplying. To stay competitive, many companies release a large number of goods, most of them has non-biodegradable packaging contributing significantly to decomposing hardly. Therefore, while growing up economy, governments should encourage corporations and factories in implementing ESG strategies, which is followed up by three citeria: Environmental, Social, and Governance.
In addition, human-being is not strong enough to face with serious factors in nature, including climate emergency, increasing UV radiation that can be harmful for living due to Ozone layer depletion, etc. Imagination, what can human and governments do when climate change accidentally while buildings and landscapes are constantly rising? The weather may increase heat, a high level of toxic smog will affect citizens and habitants, resulting in floors, exacerbating global warming, or worse ecological collapse. Moreover, if governments do not enforce stricter regulations, corporations will not have active strategies for improving environmental health, they solely concentrate on being profit-driven and staying competition. For instance, the substainable energy is more exorbitant than coal power in manufacturing. To be cost-effective production, they prioritize raw materials over “green” energy. The rigidity of governments will support they in placing significant environmental factors on top.
In conclusion, because of the rapid evolution of the environment, governments should prioritize enforcing rules about protection nature environment over economic promoting. Or boosting the economic growth, make sure mostly projects should comply with ESG rules for long-term success.
