There is an ongoing debate about volunteering for citizens.While many people believe that governements should require all citizens to volunteer for community service for at least one year.Ohters argue that volunteering should always be a personal choice.In this essay we will discuss both views before giving our opinion.
Many people believe that governments should require all citizens to volunteer for community service for at least one year, this can be beneficial for several reasons.Firstly, it is financially affordable.Local authorities can save substantial amounts by hiring volunteers for community service compared to using paid employees or signing contacts with private organizations.This approach is very rewarding for the economy.Secondly, volunteering fosters a sense of responsibility.If the citizens contribute to community service, they will have more responsibility and respect for these services.For example, many individuals are more carefull if they are using properties they contributed to.Volunteering gives people social awarness on preserving the public properties.
However, many citizens believe that volunteering should always be a personal choice because this type of commitment may not be suitable for all people.Most of individuals believe they have more important duties and participating in unpaid activities has less priority.In these situations, volunteering must be a personal choice and not an obligation, it depends on the availibility of people.Additionally, the one year requirement may be exaggerated.Although citinez may not have a problem with working as volunteers for short periods, such as holidays, however, working for a whole year will not suit them,in constrast, it can be more harmful for them.For instance, many bussiness owners are obligated to stay focused on their bussinesses, participating in other events, especially non profitable ones, will have negative impact on them.
Both views have their advantages.But in my opinion, volunteering for community service, even for few weeks, have beneficial impact for citizens.People can learn many valuable skills while volunteering, such as coordination and team work.These skills are very important for them, especially among employees and students.Furthermore, volunteering helps people to discouver new hobbies and find their true passion.For instance, more than 30% of young people in algeria mentioned, in a public survey, that they have discouvered their passion as part of volunteering for university events, which helped them improving their careers.This will create more satisfied employees and improve their productivity which is very beneficial for both citizens and the government.
In conclusion, although many people believe that volunteering for community service should always be a personal choice because it may effect their bussinesses and personal duties, however, if the governement makes more flexible requirements, such as volunteering only on holidays, it can fosters a sense of responsibility among citizens and be financially affordable for the country.
