Some people believe that individuals cannot resolve environmental issues, while others argue that they should take actions to do so. I believe that individuals play a crucial role in resolving these problems.
Some people argue that it is difficult for people to address environmental problems because these issues are far beyond people’s control which should be resolved by governments. Some major concerns such as global warming or increased sea level are global problems, damaging the planet gradually. Unless many countries enforce strong policies for environmental protections, these problems are unlikely to be resolved. In addition, individuals’ efforts may not be effective because not all people would follow somebody’s actions. If one person stop using single-use plastic products, others remain using them which may not improve the environment significantly.
However, I believe that individuals should also take actions to alleviate environment problems because these actions raise awareness others which eventually improve effectiveness. For instance, a project of planting trees in Australia was supported by many people, contributing to a recovery of the forests after severe bushfire. After that, the forest has become a new habitat of wild animals. Consequently, one small action can be bigger and it benefits environmental protections. Furthermore, governmental environmental protection policy becomes effective only if citizen have higher awareness of the problems. Even if governments try to solve the problem, it would remain unsuccessful if people follow the rules and policies. Individuals play a crucial role in protecting the earth and addressing environmental problems.
In conclusion, while some people believe there are not many things for them to tackle environment issues, I believe that individuals should take actions because their actions can be powerful when it is spread to others and these problems can be alleviated only when people follow the governmental policies.
