People have different approaches to dealing with hardships. In my opinion, individuals should take a position against difficulties depending on the circumstances.
On the one hand, when faced with uncertainty, some individuals are more likely to preserve existing resources for the sake of stability. To illustrate this, the LinkedIn job transition data during the pandemic shows that employers were hesitant to pursue new job opportunities as they did not know that what would happen after such an ambiguous era, meaning people chose not to risk their current conditions instead of seeking better possibilities. Apart from this risk management, some people believe that not taking action against challenging conditions is more beneficial for their mental health. For example, getting promoted from a specialist position to a managerial role for improved prospects demands constant interpersonal interaction and extensive collaboration, which might be too burdensome for some individuals.
On the other hand, it can be argued that tackling challenges yields benefits for the individual and the entire population, as prosperity and development can be achieved through overcoming hardships. As a case in point, the telephone, which is integral to our daily lives and used by more than five billion people, was invented after numerous attempts by Alexander Graham Bell. By virtue of this technological advancement, the barriers of distance have been dismantled, allowing for instantaneous global interaction. On an individual level, striving to overcome hurdles is seen as a vital competency for a better quality of life. For example, learning a new programming language might be an overwhelming task for a software developer as it requires extra effort after their shift is done; nonetheless, successfully navigating such a challenge grants individuals a competitive edge, thereby opening doors to superior career prospects. It is clear that embracing adversity is an essential prerequisite for both individuals and the public for superior welfare.
In conclusion, although accepting a difficult situation can preserve mental peace in certain cases, I believe that proactive efforts are more vital for progress.
