The atmosphere around the globe depends on the environment created by people. There is a section of society member claim that it is a consumer call to avoid plastic-wrapped things, while others emphasize this by saying that producers and convenience stores should avoid selling packaged goods. I believe that it should depend on individuals, whether they want to create a safe environment in the world.
On the one hand, of course, manufacturers and supermarkets are contributing factors in reducing plastic pollution. If they use paper instead of plastic to cover products, they should offer paper bags to their buyers instead of providing them with plastic. Companies like Walmart, No-Frills, and Fresco are already using paper. Apart from that, there are some goods like vegetables, fruits, and bakery snacks that do not require unnecessary packaging, they can be given as they are without any plastic, so local markets should avoid using them. For example, Tim Horton’s food comes in a paper bag, they do not wrap it in a plastic bag.
On the other hand, customers are the users, so they are the ones to blame for excessive plastic usage. They should take paper bags with them whenever they go shopping and avoid needless plastic goods, and they should encourage companies that support a pollution-free atmosphere. People should use less plastic at home as well, they should teach their kids that microplastic causes several health problems. Secondly, individuals should start recycling plastic; collect all the plastic they use and dispose of it in a recycling bin. They should demand their government to support eco-friendly products. To exemplify, authorities can give orders to soft drink companies to replace a cane with a glass bottle.
In conclusion, I largely agree that it should be a person’s choice to have a healthy and eco-friendly environment, whereas producers and marketers try their best to avoid plastic in their business, but customers are the ones who can make that change happen and support organizations in this. If a customer is not aware of useless plastic packaging, then there is no point for companies to promote non-plastic packaging.
