There are two opinions about including classes of being a good parent into school program. Some individuals think that it is required for children, and others think that it is not so necessary for them to study it in school. This essay will discuss both sides of the given idea.
The major idea of the first group of people who supports this idea is that children should be prepared for adulthood in general and parenting in particular. Accordingly, when they become parents themselves, they will know how to act in various situations. In particular, these type of education programs are not common, but there are some cases, mostly in Europe. Thereupon, Europe countries show high numbers in researches about becoming parent consciously.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages. One of them is that conducting lessons about parenting may distract pupils from more significant and complicated subjects. Therefore, it may affect on their grades, which could limit their future growth. Moreover, another reason is that parenting is a specific topic that depends on a family and their traditions. For example, there are a lot of multinational countries, and it would be hard to make one common program to teach all children with different background.
In my opinion, teaching parenting is a useful education program, but it should be optional. For instance, it can be conducted as a short course, therefore it won’t interfere with studying the main subjects. Furthermore, people who would teach children how to be a parent should be educated properly, and make program that includes national and traditional differences.
