A rise of big cities has been observed during the last century that has significantly changed people’s lives and split them into two categories: city residents and country dwellers. The first ones enjoy their city-lives while the others doubt that the megapolises are a suitable place for living. The following paragraphs are to describe the major advantages and disadvantages of living in a city.
Currently, more and more people relocate to the big cities due to the profits they provide. Living in a large city, one can access a wide range of activities and entertainment. Shopping malls, fine restaurants, local high quality boutiques are mainly located inside big cities and almost never can be found somewhere else. It cannot be forgotten that city residents have a higher salary since many complicated well-paid jobs are offered in megapolises. Big cities develop their both commercial and industrial areas providing more jobs with a higher wage.
Despite all mentioned above, city life is not a dream and there are several reasons why. It is not a secret that all big cities are suffering from the different types of pollution. Being usually overcrowded, noisy all day even during the night, megapolises damage its residents’ health which affects people’s life satisfaction. Moreover, a high life rhythm results in people suffering from a high stress level. Every year several suicides are committed due the unability of fighting the stress.
New big cities are being established now, more residents are being born. They are provided with better prospects but lack a calm and peaceful life. Therefore, living in a big city has its own merits and demerits and luckily people can choose where to live.
