There is a growing sentiment among some people that there should be a ban on sports competitions on account of the fact that a great number of young individuals do not take part in sports to avoid losing. From my standpoint, I completely disagree with this statement, and this essay will present reasons to support my perspective.
First and foremost, there are some major rationales supporting the view that losing is no where near young people’s main concern about sportmanship. When it comes to failures when playing sports, it is evident that this is an unavoidable part of a match that the young have to face sooner or later. Therefore, this should not be regarded as the main factor that drives them away from playing sports. Instead of that, parents and sport innitials should take responsibility for encouraging youngsters to put more efforts into playing sports, fostering their motivation and confidence regardless of the losses.
Furthermore, banning sports competitions is of little significance in helping the youth take part more in sports. Having a chance to play at tournaments or in other competitions is what motivate young people the most to pursue their passion in doing sports. Thereby, limiting youngsters’ opportunities to grow and prove themselves by forbidding sports competitions may solely bring about discouragement, making them unable to enhance their ability and overcome their fear of losing. However, if competitions are held to let young individuals take part in, more and more youngsters may find interest in playing sports and eventually find themselves competing in contests, where they can grow further both in their sports and in real lives as individuals.
In conclusion, I hold the belief that sports competitions should not be banned whether it is because of young people’s fear of losing when playing sports or not. It is recommended that failure be consider as an inevitable part of sportmanship, and more contests and competitions should be held to motivate the youth’s development.
