Choosing a career is one of the most important decision a person makes in their life. While some people believe a high pay is one of the major factors influencing their career choice, others believe that positive environment and job satisfaction is equally important. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, many individuals consider money to be a primary factor while choosing a job. A competitive salary would allow one to fulfill their everyday needs, support their family and enjoy a comfortable standard of living. In addition, financial security reduces stress and helps them focus on building their life and saving up for future. For example, many graduates choose a high paying job to clear up their financial loans, attain financial independence and live a quality life. Therefore, it is understandable why salary is taken into key consideration.
On the other hand, it is crucial for some to be satisfied with the job they choose to pursue. A positive working environment can influence the efficiency of the employee. If one is content with their job, one can think more critically, solve problems efficiently and would be able to be more productive in the workplace. It also creates workplace balance and one would be able to learn and grow in their career.
In my opinion, while it is crucial to have decent salary to maintain a decent quality of life, I believe being satisfied with your job would bring out the better in you with time and help one grow personally and professionally. It would also create a positive impact on one’s mental and a person would thrive to learn new things and constantly push themselves to better. Therefore, I believe being contempt with the work you are doing is utmost important.
