It is a struggle to select an appropriate gift for young children. While some believe money is the best type of gift, I agree with those who suggest other gifts are more suitable.
People who believe money makes an excellent gift feel it is important to teach young people about finances from a younger age. They believe financial gifts promote independence. Additionally, people who are not closely related and do not know much about the person they want to give a present to feel money might be a more apt gift rather than going empty handed. They feel their gift might not be liked by the child or it might not be useful so, they think if they give money the child might buy something they like.
On the other hand, I am in agreement with those who believe in actual gift rather than money. Gifts show love , affection and thoughtfulness of the person giving. For example, if a child likes reading and you gift them a book collection of some series like Harry Potter they might appreciate that gift more than money and it is also beneficial for the child. Furthermore, a thoughtful gift shows better understanding and might be more beneficial.
In conclusion, picking a material gift is best rather than giving money and putting no thought in gifting. Many also believe money is a better gift as it may promote financial independence and the child may learn to save, spend smartly. However, I prefer in giving gifts to young kids which may make them feel special.
