In recent years, more and more people are struggling to choose a gift for their young relatives or friends. While some believe that money is the most appropriate type of present, I agree with those who suggest that other gifts are more suitable and practical.
To commence with, many individuals claim that money makes an excellent gift. Proponents of this view may suggest that young people already have what they need in terms of gadgets, clothes and toys. Therefore, giving them more items will be impractical and not beneficial. Furthermore, teenagers may gain a valuable skill such as saving money. For instance, if young people are given a choice whether they want to spend or save money, they will learn the value of things they wish to buy. As a result, youngsters may become more financially mature and independent.
On the other hand, I agree with those who support the idea of giving items as a present is more practical than giving money. It shows their attitude to the receiver as well as their attention. Moreover, presents such as books, jewelry or souvenirs from a trip are memorable and will remind them of the person who gave these presents. Thus, useful and practical gifts are more beneficial and long-lasting than money.
In conclusion, whereas many individuals believe that giving financial gifts boosts financial literacy and allows the minors to buy what they wish, I side with those who suggest that practical gifts are more valuable and meaningful than money.
