It is argued that there are way too many options for us nowadays and can cast an impact on us. This essay strongly agrees with this statement. In my opinion, an excessive amount of choices can be observed in doing grocery and finding a potential spouse on the internet.
There is a numerous of goods available when doing grocery, and many advertisements are being published in different kinds of media including radio, newspaper, and magazine. This is because International trade has enabled foreign businesses to enter the domestic market and compete with domestic companies. A fierce competition can be shown in their advertisement with many of them trying to brand as the “best product ever”. When I go a supermarket in my neighbourhood to do grocery, I often feel overwhelmed by the enormous amounts of brands and products from different countries. As a result, shopping has become exhausting for me as most of my time there is being spent on comparing different products.
Dating has become a subject of excessive choices too, and it has caused a shift in young people’s dating habit. Online dating has been gaining its popularity, thanks to the convenience of the internet, as people can possibly meet anybody from any country in the world. As a result, this new trend has given youngsters who are looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend extremely anxious as they face constant competition and comparison online. A female friend of mine has suffered from serious mental health issues and has been seeking professional help from therapy. It seriously affected her confidence and self-image. She recently decided to stop using all forms of social media and took a pause at dating.
To conclude, I agree that we have possibly too many choices in our lives. From my experience, having too many options can sometimes give us negative feelings and experiences.
