Taxation has a fundamental value in the structure of every country. However, some people oppose this idea, preferring to keep all the money they earn. I firmly believe that this attitude towards taxing might rather cause more harm than good.
It is justifiable that some people want to keep everything they earn through hard work to themselves. The taxation percentages are different and often quite high in various countries around the world. Let’s say the average tax percentage was 10%: the amount of money paid for taxes would greatly vary between individuals and their needs. For example, a family with four kids might use this 10% for their own needs, such as buying some extra groceries or saving for children’s education. Thus, some people would like to keep such an amount of money to spend on their more important purposes than giving to the government and not getting what they want.
However, some people might not fully realize the importance of taxes. They might think that they are just giving another large check to the government for nothing, whereas in reality, they benefit from that more. The public schools, healthcare, and infrastructure greatly depend on the taxpayers. Without them, these facilities would not exist or would have limited operational capabilities. Hence, people will have to pay a greater price for enrolling their children in private schools or having treatment in a private hospital that might cost them an arm and a leg. Moreover, taxes go not only to the facilities they use but to the other “background” needs. For instance, the US government has a pretty big percentage of taxation, which turned out to be useful, is the epitome of that; in the recent epidemic event – COVID-19 -, the government has been able to allocate a large amount of money to each of its households to help its citizens with the economic consequences of the disease. Thus, the tax payment is not the action of blindly throwing money to the government but rather an investment in a comfortable life.
Overall, it might look reasonable to prefer not to give away earned money to anyone, but I strongly believe that tax payment is important to keep the state of the whole country and nation in safety and comfort.
