Some people consider that private car possession should be prohibited in urban areas in order to inspire citizens to use public transportation. I strongly disagree with this view because public transportation is unreliable and private cars are more quicker than mass transit.
First and foremost, public transit is commonly considered unreliable. In other words, they can’t guarantee the time they will arrive. It is because of the passengers in out-of-the-way locations. Driver does numerous stops to pick up passengers, and this can create problems. The specific reason for this is that some people are hurrying up to work or for important meetings. For example, in some developed countries, many people prefer buses. However, if bus will be late to the destination, it can cause some of the people unemployment or firing.
Moreover, private cars are more faster than public ones. That is, as I stated before, mass transit can be late or slow due to pick-up passengers in out-of-the-way locations. In private cars, you don’t have to pick up passengers. It also gives freedom of movement than public ones. Additionally, public transit can’t take way they want because they have their own route. But in private cars, you can take detour when you want and you can choose other direction to avoid traffic congestion. For instance, if you are being late for work, you can use shortcuts to save time instead of waiting in the traffic jam.
In conclusion, when some people think that private car ownership should be forbidden in metropolitan areas, I disagree with this stand because mass transits are untrustworthy and very slow compared to private ones.
