It is argued that pupils in school should not be given home tasks from their teachers while some believe that homework plays a huge role in an academic evolvement. I strongly agree with the latter view as repetition and commitment of a student lays a big foundation in curriculum development.
Firstly, the most viable and effective way to make a progress and excel at school curriculum is repetition. Any information that was heard or read should be reinforced and comprehended by repeating given task at home. Otherwise the likelihood of the effectiveness of the learnt task, independently of the way how it was taught, is very little. Regardless of the teaching method lack of repetition hinders further development. To illustrate that, a study that was conducted by Upenn University professors confirmed that students that were less engaged and didn’t strengthen their knowledges by themselves, were academically worse than those who did.
Secondly, commitment, autonomy and accountability of a student are also major progress makers. These qualities help a pupil to fully comprehend the subject, to fill areas that they lack and master it. Students’ study improvement is not attributed solely on the teacher or on teaching method, but also on students’ consistency and discipline, that’s what makes a great development in their studies. For instance, it is proved that children’s academic excel is not tied onto their school but more to students’ interest and engagement in certain subject
To conclude, although giving homework to children seems unnecessary it plays a major role in their study progress. It also fosters pupils’ autonomy and retention
