Some contend that athletic pursuits should be mandatory in schools, whereas others opine that it should be optional. I largely agree that physical education should be a vital part in schools and I will justify my stance with relevant arguments in the subsequent paragraphs.
To embark upon, physical education is crucial as a part of daily life in school. It contributes significantly in develpment of a student fitness and improve mental health. Moreover, individuals will be able to be disciplined and they will learn teamwork. Additionally, pupils will learn to make friends, which will create good sense of belonging. For instance, students can meet their old friends in the athlete ground. Thus, physical education contributes imperatively.
Furthermore, some professions are not acquired by only athletics. Thus, they require academic knowledge access and academic credentials that can be provided by educational institutions. For example, jobs such as doctors, lawayers and chartered accountants require applicant to practice in that field and formulated certificates from professional associations. Apart from that, some people reckon that subjects that require deep analytical thinking should take dominance. For example, subjects such as mathematics and science should take precedence rather than physical education. Therefore, sports should not overweigh the academics.
To conclude, although sports play an indispensable role in learners daily lie, but it should be to a limited extent. Thus, it should be balanced with academics.
