Band 6+: Some people believe that students should be given less homework so that they can have more free time. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The question of whether students should be given less homework is highly debated with strong arguments on both sides. While some think that students should receive less homework, I consider that they should be given much homework.

On the one hand, there are several advantages of giving less home task. One notable advantage is that it enables students to relax and alleviate stress after school. This means that if students have less homework, they can finish them quickly and allocate more time to recharge both mental and physical. For example, in Finland, teacher give less home tasks to students so that they have more free time to relax and this can help students to refresh for tomorrow. As a result, students can begin participating in the lessons actively. If students have much homework, they can be put under the pressure to when I finish them and worried about their relaxation. Hence, students should be given less homework.

On the other hand, I believe that giving less homework can be disadvantageous. One major drawback is that students can forget the lessons. This means that homework allows students review and remember what they learned in class, so when teachers give less homework, students cannot revise the lesson strongly. For example, in USA, students take fewer tasks and this contributed forgetting the lesson easily. As a result, students will struggle in exams even if they learned a day ago. If students should be given many tasks, they can remember the lesson taught by the teachers and can be more responsible. Taking everything into account, I accept that students should be given much homework.

To sum up, even though giving less homework can help relax and reduce stress, I accept that they should receive much homework.
