A section of society believes that the most effective way to promote education in any country is to remove every cost associated with it, while the other section believes that there are far more effective ways to promote education in a country. Though I believe that making it free will definitely increase education, I also believe that other strong approaches must be taken as well.
Though there is no doubt in the fact that there are a lot of less fortunate people who want to study but they could not afford to go into an educational institution. So making education free will lead to these people who want to study. Apart from this, it will also reduce the burden on those families who want to educate their children but they are surviving with less income. For instance, public universities in Germany have no tuition fees and barely any tuition fees that enable many children to get educated and attain degrees.
Despite this, some other methods must be used in order to increase the level of education in a country. First and foremost step is to raise and spread awareness of the significance of being educated among the general public in the country. In addition to these upgrading the quality of education and the facility provided will encourage more people to get educated and to get their children educated. For example, over the past decade, India is working to improve both its public schools as well as universities and there is already a great rise seen in attendance in educational institutions.
In a nutshell, in order to increase the level of education in a country one must not only make it free but also raise awareness about its benefits and enhance its facilities and combining all the steps given above will do wonders to a country.
