Crime is a serious problem across the globe and all countries are trying to deal with this pressing issue. While some individuals debate that crime rates will decrease if police patrolling is carried out. on the streets, others believe there are better solutions to mitigate these issues. Before making a stance on this issue, it is important to examine both perspectives.
On one hand, proponents believe that patrolling on the streets can lower the rate of offensive activities.
Due to the active presence of police officers, it will create a sense of fear in criminals, which can make them think twice before committing the crime. Additionally, having more officers on the streets can help to reassure the public and enhance the feeling of safety and security within communities.
However, others argue that increasing the number of police is not enough to address the root cause of crime. There are several factors that surges crime in society such as poverty, society inequality and lack of education. To overcome the issue of poverty and maintaining the equilibrium within the community, government should focus on creating job opportunities. Furthermore, in villages government should impose rules to complete education up to high school. To accomplish this, targeted campaigns that emphasize on importance of education should be carried out in the rural areas.
In my opinion, though patrolling on the streets help in reducing the number of crime in the society but it is not a viable solution. To diminish the crime rate effectively in the long run, the government can focus on the underlying cause that enhances the crime at first place.
