Nowadays, education plays a crucial role in a person’s life. Once thought as a privillege , now it is much more affordable for the majority of us. Notwithstanding people’s opinion that is not complusory for everyone and although the educational system is still needed to be increased in a manner of its quality, I must admit that , we, as a human beings, tend to learn the whole life in order to achieve success and to find our purpose.
First of all, there is a common thing that, in this race of gaining higher education, we are usually drowning in a lot of information or unuseful theory that we have to digest in order to get good marks. Perhaps knowing more about where can we use this skills after we graduate and what employers are expecting from us will be a better approach and will help students to visualize where they would like to go and what they would like to do.For exemple, if I am to become a product designer then I will have to prepare and to develop my portfolio. Working with real scenarios will improve my skills, both critical and practical, helping me getting a good job opportunity.
On the other hand, the very idea of training us just for employment does not sound to me very attractive. Education broadens our knowledge, sharpens our mind. It is like fuel for our brain. How are we supposed to understand ourselves better when all we know is just how to become the employees they want us to become ?For instance, if I only pay attention on what I am going to do after graduate, I will narrow my mind and possibilities and, in the end, I will simply end up struggling with existentional crisis, antisocialism and the lack of my own opinion.
To conclude, education is more about the ability of getting new perspectives, of understanding the whole process on a deeper level, of building new values and developing more skills, rather than the urge of making money and become an office rat. Life is about passion, is about doing things that makes you happy. Although a good job means also stability, mental and financial, I genuinely believe that educations has much wider purposes indeed.
