There is an ongoing debate about whether museums should be a source of education, while others believe museums should entertain children. This essay will examine both perspectives including my own opinion.
On the one hand, the role of museums in education may be essential, as many children benefit from a real-life learning, which is more effective than ordinary methods. Museums provide visual and interactive experiences, while some children can remember things and information better when they see and experience them. For examples, seeing historical artifacts may make learning history more interesting and meaningful, thereby enhancing understanding of students. As a result, these factors are significant contributors to young learners’ education that make their education easier and interesting.
On the other hand, many parents claim that museums should entertain children, as it is likely to prevent children from academic pressure. Many students struggle with tasks at schools and worry about final exams, which could lead to major mental issues. However, many parents hope that museums can prevent their children from such cases. For instance, a nature museum is a great place where children can feel themselves as a part of nature, as it helps avoid negative thoughts about their educational condition. Consequently, such activities could make calm children and prevent them from overthinking.
In my opinion, parents should encourage their children to visit such museums to learn and enjoy at the same time, as the new generation has addicted to gadgets. New devices may distract leaners from their education and make them tired, taking their all energy, while parents believe that in museums they can relax and develop a deeper interest on history. For example, historical artifacts in museums, such as tools, which were used during wars can seem interesting for young generation, thereby improving interest. This in turn can lead children to be aware of history and can give energy and motivation to learn history.
In conclusion, although some believe that museums should educate children, as real-life learning is more effective, others think it should entertain them to avoid school’s environment and pressure. I think that parents should allow their children to visit in search of knowledge and enjoyments due to a greater dependence on devices.
