Band 8+: Some people believe that university students should live at home with their families, while others think they should live independently. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The question of whether students should live in college dormitories or stay with their families during their studies is widely debated. While living in dormitories can provide independence and a better academic environment, staying with family offers emotional support and financial advantages. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my opinion.

On the one hand, living in college dormitories allows students to become more independent and responsible. When students live away from their families, they learn essential life skills such as managing finances, cooking, and organizing their daily schedules. Dormitory life also provides opportunities to interact with people from diverse backgrounds, which can improve communication and social skills. Furthermore, being close to campus enables students to attend classes, access libraries, and participate in extracurricular activities more conveniently, which may positively affect their academic performance.

On the other hand, living with family can be beneficial in several ways. Families often provide emotional encouragement and guidance, helping students cope with academic pressure and personal challenges. In addition, staying at home can significantly reduce living expenses, including accommodation and food costs. This financial relief can allow students to focus more on their studies instead of worrying about money. Moreover, family members can help maintain a balanced lifestyle by offering a stable and supportive environment.

In my opinion, both options have their merits, but living in college dormitories is generally more beneficial for most students. It encourages personal growth, independence, and social development while preparing young people for future responsibilities. However, the best choice ultimately depends on an individual’s circumstances, personality, and financial situation.

Public libraries served people since the nineteenth century providing them access to knowledge. In the twenty-first century, computer technology started to overtake that duty, and claims arose that maintaining the libraries is just a waste of money. I disagree with these statements. To begin with, public libraries were the temples of knowledge for centuries. Many […]

Private enterprises in many nations are progressively taking over the funding and management of large-scale public facilities instead of governments. While this trend has both benefits and drawbacks, I personally think it is positive if strict oversight is maintained to protect national finance and public interests. On one hand, private companies often have more flexible […]
