There is an ongoing debate regarding playing video games. While one school of thought holds that it is harmful to children if they devote significant time to this entertainment form, others believe that taking advantage of video games would bring better benefits to children’s development. This essay will critically examine both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, it is true to support the idea that immersing in the game scenarios is detrimental for many, especially young people. The key rationale behind this stems from some violent and adult content, damaging directly children’s personal establishment. For instance, children would have a tendency to imitate their favorite characters in violent games to bully other peers as an honorable triumph, leading them to become aggressive and impulsive people in future society. Furthermore, focusing overwhelmingly on video games can prevent children from other priorities, such as doing exercise or studying. This causes to sedentary lifestyle and many potential health problems, typically obesity.
On the other hand, recent academic research has shown that enjoying computer games could help children develop countless abilities and skills. This is particularly evident in the enhancement of logical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Specifically, by observing fast-paced movement or graphic adventure games, players is more likely to evaluate their options faster and make tough choices. Thus, these essential possibilities will prepare them for difficulties and challenges down the road.
In conclusion, while players of electronic games are able to gain a wide range of positive influences, their potential adverse implications should not be overshadowed. In my opinion, it is imperative to strike a balance between the time spent playing video games and the time spent on other helpful activities. Moreover, parents’ presence plays a pivotal role in supervising these recreational actions and plays as a model mirror for their offspring’s development.
