In contemporary society, the growing emphasis on students in high schools must engage plenty of voluntary works. This has become a subject of widespread debate and discussion. In my opinion, I partly agree and disagree with this statement.
On the one hand, it is essential that teenagers experience volunteer work. Firstly, students can enhance their CVs by participating in community activities, which directly impact their future decisions. For example, numerous prestigious universities often apply the students who have great social experiences such as working for a charity. Moreover, teenagers also increase their social skills including communication and interaction. In other words, they can easily make friends and create a vast relationship with others in various communities. On top of that, the skill of time management will improve thanks to the experience from voluntary works. Students can easily balance between schools and the extra outside activities, which is a massive bonus point for their future.
On the other hand, there are still plenty of negative aspects of doing voluntary works. Currently, students are overwhelmed with a lot of assignments at school, so the mandatory activities such as voluntary works will create the worsen conditions and make students feel stress. For instance, teenagers might feel annoyed when their parents force them to do activities that they are not interested in. In addition, teenagers should rather be focused on the main subjects and improve them such as mathematics and literature instead of engaging the voluntary works, which I believe is a form of time-consuming.
In conclusion, although the suggestion that the volunteer works should be a requirement for teenagers in high schools has its own pros and cons. I believe that the advantages always outweigh the disadvantages and the high school students must participate in voluntary works.
