In today’s modern world, many people choose not to eat meat from wild or sea animals. They believe this choice has positive impacts on their health and the environment. I do not agree with this perspective. In this essay, both sides of the argument will be discussed.
Firstly, consuming excessive amounts of meat can have negative effects on our health, leading to various diseases that may be difficult to treat. Animals may also face health issues, potentially becoming a source of infection that can harm many lives. Animals deserve the right to live, as they are part of a food chain that plays a crucial role in maintaining environmental balance. Professor Jones Mark pointed out in his book “Wildefiers” that human activities, such as hunting animals, can disrupt ecosystems and contribute to factors like wildfires, particularly due to changes caused by global warming.
On the other hand, meat provides essential nutrients like protein and vitamins that are necessary for our health. Omega-3 fatty acids, for example, are found in sea animals and are beneficial for brain health, including for patients with Alzheimer’s. Eating meat can also help maintain the balance of the food chain, ensuring environmental sustainability and productivity. Research from Manchester University showed that the consumption of meat contributed to the growth of plants in forests and wilderness areas, which impacted the ozone layer positively and helped reduce certain environmental issues.
