The rapid increase of urbanisation and population, has led to the introduction of a new lifestyle, living in vertical forests, where the buildings are covered with green plants and trees. This essay, will analyze this approach and further, disagree due to the risk of infections and long term unstability.
Some people love to live in a lifestyle where their homes are covered with trees and plants, because it act as a natural air purifier, and at the same time help maintain cool temperatures throughout the year. Air Pollution nowadays having been increasing rapidy, plantion in buildings would create a natural ventilation system, where the pollution is absorbed by the trees, and fresh oxygen is released. This would reduce the heavy usage of air purifier, while also being cost effective. Moreover, trees also naturally regulate the place ‘s temperature, by providing a shed under its branches. The shed is often 3-4 C cooler than outside, when in large numbers trees can provide a massive relif from extremely hot summers.
Although living in buildings filled with plants and trees looks like a win-win situation, but when observed in the fields of biology and architectural sustainability, the reality start showing up. A house filled with trees will act as a home for insects. These insects can cause serveral servere infections, which stacks up the hospital bills and risks in life. Moreover, trees often expand massively without any control, this could lead to branches and trunks slowly coming out of windows, stokes and doors. Which increases the difficulty while accessing them overtime . Moreover, after a tree dies, the branches could fall on people causing multiple casualty.
In conclusion, people prefer living in a vertical forest for its natural cooling and fresh air, which heavily cut down the cost of living. However, people often over look the risk of infection and long term unstability involved.Hence I believe it is not a viable solution.
