Because cultural objects and artistic works can be observed digitally, public museums and art gallaries are widely regarded as unnecessities by the public. Contrary to their opinion, I believe museums and gallaries are not obsolete as they provide us with unrivaled experiences and important contributions to society.
One reason for my stance is that observing anything in person is more memorable than the digital experience. What we see online is from the journey and the perspective of others, in form of blogs, vlogs or images. Also, cameras and displays cannot capture the depth, details and sensory engagements present in the three-dimensional real-life experiences. Therefore, the value of hands-on experiences makes museums better than digital alternatives
Another reason for my view is the importance of public museums and art galleries to society. Whereas online platforms mostly contributes little to no value, established museums could attract visitors from all over the world. Such influx of visitors bring revenue and provide employment for the local population. Furthermore, perserving culturally important artifacts benefit future generations as it provide them with a picture of the past, of the way society worked, how our ancestors lived and evolved. As a result, if we discontinue museums, we would not be able to enjoy these benefits.
In conclusion, I believe museums and galleries should be here to stay due to the inability of digital platforms to provide realistic experience and contributions of public museums to the world
