In our contemporary world, there is a prevalent belief that television can inhibit the development of children’s creavity. Nevertheless, I would contend that television will not affect imaginative thingking of the child as exaggerated, given certain advantages that it holds.
To begin with, television is an excellent tool informing children of their surroudings.Indeed, television provides children with a variety of intriguing programmes which cover a wide range of topics ranging from science, technology to art, music and daily life. For example, a TV channel named “VTV7” is common among Vietnamese teenagers as this offers them many valuable lessons to grasp knowledge about English, Math and Literature. Moreover, many channels in television contain reliable sources of information which enable the child to have a holistic view about events regarding the wars, pandemics occuring in the world.
Additonally, many facinating scientific experiments are being broadcasted on Television that nurture children’s curiosity. The knowledge in textbooks no longer be enough to satisfy the desire to explore everything; therefor, children need to acquire wider knowledge. Such experiments could cultivate the child’s creativiy and bravery to carry out the same thing through detailed instruction given by experts on TV. Consequently, this will aid in widening children’s knowledge and fostering their personal development.
Additonally, television suggests many topics that parents can bring to a discussion with their child, facilitating children’s creative ability and critical thingking. This is because after watching something on TV with their children, parents can help to review the contents and raise some questions which is relevant to the topics. This will have positive impacts on the child’s knowledge retention and trigger their refutation.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly believe that television does more good than harm. Nevertheless, children should be controlled properly by their parents in order to prevent them from consuming unhealthy contents on TV, ensuring a clean learning environment for the child.
