It is often argued that education system is overly focused on acquisition of theoretical knowledge, and a bigger fraction of states’ finances should be allocated to activities outside schools for students. I completely agree with this statement because it may help to improve health among students and develop personality. In this essay I will discuss the main reasons for my viewpoint, focusing on real examples in developed countries.
The primary reason why I support this point of view is that it can strengthen immune system, which can subsequently prevent illnesses. This is because when humans move, engaging their muscles, they burn extra calories. In other words, when learners aimed to be straight-A students at schools they spend large amounts of time; they stay at their houses and learn theory. However, when people have their active hobbies, they step outside. As a result, they maintain good physical condition by circumventing weight-related issues. For example, over the last decade in Finland, the government is introducing free leisure activities for a younger generation. Worth to note that the amount of time at schools is reduced. Therefore, it is clear that when adolescents have more time to head it to activities besides learning theory, they have healthier physical conditions.
Another equally important argument is that less time at educational institutions helps to develop personal skills. This stems from the fact that when people do extracurricular activities, they improve soft skills (the ability to communicate with other people, set up own schedules to remain productive, and be leaders). If teenagers improve their own personalities rather than learning new math formulas, they will be able to handle daily tasks in the future. A good illustration of this can be seen in the US, children are fostered to have various pastimes. This can lead to developing soft-skills as noted before. Thus, the majority of high-income individuals is based specifically there because they know to how to deal with real-life problems.
To conclude, healthier life and development of personal skills are the main reasons why I hold this opinion. Therefore, I firmly believe that governments should spend more funds to leisures activities outside schools because it ultimately contributes to both personal growth and health.
