While some people like living in a house, others prefer staying in an apartment. In my opinion, living in a house has more benefits since it gives us more privacy and more freedom, even though choosing to live in an apartment might be cheaper.
First, compared to living in an apartment, the living fee in a house might be higher. The reason is when you live in an apartment, you live with many others, who will, alongside you, share the fee necessary to operate the whole building. For example, when the elevator breaks down, all the people who reside in the building pay for it to be fixed since they all need it in their daily lives. In contrast, living in your own house means taking care of such issues on your own, which increases the expenditure on your accommodation. Another problem of living in your own home is the lack of interaction you have with your neighbors. Nowadays, with the hectic pace of life, it has become normal that people do not even know their neighbors’ names.
However, I think the benefits of living in your own house is worth coping with all these problems. One of these benefits is the security of your privacy. Living in a detached house gives you more private space, where you can be at ease that no one is watching you. For example, you can be walking around completely naked in your own home, but such thing is impossible when you are living in an apartment, unless you want to be reported. Another benefit is to be able to freely do everything you want without annoying anyone. Since it is your own house, you do not have to ponder whether you are bothering your neighbors even if you sing with the highest volume on the microphone.
In conclusion, living in a house gives you freedom and privacy, which are essential to keep you healthy psychologically, and thus, outweighing the increased living fee and the lack of human interaction.
