In the contemporary world, some people assert that pursuing new job opportunities is more beneficial for their professional growth. Others argue that staying in the same job throughout one’s working life is more convenient. I believe that frequently changing jobs is necessary to access superior career prospects and to build a wider professional networking.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why employees remain in the same job throughout their careers. Firstly, companies are more likely to promote workers who demonstrate loyalty; therefore, many individuals prefer to stay in the same organisation to increase their chances of being promoted. Secondly, the process of searching for a new job can be time-consuming and exhausting. For example, according to a study conducted by Istanbul University, 36% of white-collar workers do not seek new opportunities because they find the process tiring and stressful.
On the other hand, I am of the opinion that frequent job changes offers significant advantages in terms of superior career prospects and expanding a wider professional network. To illustrate this, according to data from LinkedIn, 64% of white-collar individuals who have secured a new job tend to earn more money compared to their previous income. Moreover, workers who change jobs frequently build a wider professional environment compared to those who do not do that as they find a chance to meet new professionals from the sector.
In conclusion, while I acknowledge that remaining in the same job for one’s whole life might provide stability and a better chance of being promoted, I believe that frequently seeking new job is necessary for superior salary opportunities and building a wider professional network.
