The topic of subjects to study at school has been heatedly debated by policymakers over recent years. While some people opine that computer lessons should be included along with the main subjects such as math, reading, and writing at primary school , I am firmly opposed to this notion to a large extent.
The main reason behind this is that children require time to relax and have fun instead of learning more subjects. This is true because at a young age, children should spend more time outdoors and have a blast with their friends. If this time was taken away, they would develop into depression and mental issues. According to a recent study from China, there is around 15% of all children in the country who has anxiety and depression due to the fact that they do not spend time outside enough.
Another reason for this is that some countries cannot supply computers to each elementary school. This happens because each country economy is at the verge of collapse. For example, in Myanmar, the country has suffered greatly from civil war, so they cannot allocate their fund into advancing their education with computers at primary school. As a result, including computer lessons into the curriculum is not possible.
All in all, I strongly believe that adding computer skills into the current curriculum is not a good idea due to the fact that children should spend more time playing outside and that some countries are not wealthy enough to supply the materials.
