Cell phones are small devices that can be used for communication and other purposes among people of different age ranges. some parents argue that their children have to use their mobiles at school for educational and security purposes. In my opinion, I agree with this statement for many reasons.
To begin with, when students have their phones, they can communicate with their parents in case of emergency. It is a faster way to get the phone from the bucket rather than to go to the supervisor’s office and ask to call the parents, which sometimes invalids to take the right actions. In fact, Studies show that 70% of students who possess their mobiles get faster access to parents when they are needed. Another good example is that some students have sensitive cases that they don’t wish to share even with social workers or other teachers, so they tend to call their parents immediately. Thus, allowing phones for safety precautions is important.
In addition, using cell phones in learning fields enables a variety of adaptive learning techniques to ameliorate students’ academic performance. Teachers find easy academic solutions when using technology with students, especially when those students are accustomed to mobile activities. A teacher can use gamification strategies to create an engaging atmosphere among the students such as Quizizz, Kahoot, and other learning platforms that aim to improve results levels through games. Therefore, schools could rely on mobile phone technology to foster the student’s understanding and learning outcomes through gamification.
However, some individuals argue that using cell phones at school creates distraction among students and could result in weak outcomes. Teachers with strong classroom management can set boundaries and rules for mobile accessibility.
To sum up, mobile phones are beneficial for students when it comes to security and educational possibilities. Schools can take a forward step to enable discoveries with students’ achievements. Therefore, I strongly agree to permit the use of mobile phones for students at schools.
