In today’s highly competitive job market, while some people argue that the primary focus of employers should be on the caliber of work produced rather than the attire worn by their employees, I contend that there should be careful consideration with some specific fields about whether factors employers should prioritise to yield desired outcomes for the company, shaping sustainable working environment to achieve success for the enterprises.
In an increasingly evolving society, many businesses need to prioritize quality over appearance. Many employers should recruit highly educated employees with university degrees or higher expertise to contribute much to the success of the company. In some careers, having to wear prescribed uniforms can make workers uncomfortable and reduce creativity, leading to lower work quality. For instance, in the technology industry, most workers only have contact with computers or only work at home; therefore, comfortable clothing is the best option for them to be free creative, focus on the project progress, leading to greater work productivity.
However, in my opinion, work performance is not only the quality but also the image and appearance, leading to the success of work. In occupations that require contact with consumers such as lawyers, bankers, teachers, customer service officers, etc, a formal dress code plays a vital role in the way they perform work. When professionals wear formal attire, it not only symbolizes expertise but also increases trustworthiness of the organization, the reputation and professionalism for the whole team. For example, a traditional teacher in Vietnam will often wear ao dai to create a dignified and standard appearance to go to a place that requires seriousness at school. Thanks to wearing formal clothes, parents can trust the principal to bring their children to the school and teachers to teach lessons. In conclusion, some people believe that the quality of work is more important and should be given more attention than how employees dress. I consider that each career will have its own quality requirements, but business should balance and choose carefully to bring optimized benefits to their success.
