The debate surrounding the topic of conditions for better development of intellectual skills is gaining interest. While some people assert that group activities have more potential to advance a person’s brain power, others consider that studying alone is a more practical approach to reach intellectual growth. However I agree with the latter notion.
Despite the fact that working in groups provokes the development of communication skills and expansion of worldview, individual study is superior for advancement of self- discipline and focus that make a better contribution to improvement of intellectual skills. Doing group activities involves certain problems such as scheduling conflicts and controversies about ideas that are not encountered in individual studying. Studying alone is flexible and gives an opportunity to manage time by own decisions. To be more precise, freedom in schedule leads to more efficient results and better mental health.
Another reason why individual study is a convenient form to make an upgrade in intellectual skills is the focus. Studying alone minimizes external distractions and obstacles, enabling full concentration on the given topic. Deep focus on the material without interruptions from group discussions and socializing ensure better understanding. For instance, in most cases work is divided into parts while studying in groups that might lead to bad comprehension of all aspects of the project. Also, it is an undeniable fact that people in the company are often distracted by irrelevant themes during the work.
In conclusion, in spite of the fact that working in groups can contribute to the advancement of brain power, individual studying is a more practical approach to develop mind skills because of independent schedules and better concentration.
