People believe that children should be taught financial management in school. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement as it is imperative to instill these qualities in children.
Many people struggle with financial literacy as they grow up. They have no direction and do not know where to start from. Individuals who could have faced financial restrain at younger ages tend to spend recklessly once they gain financial independence. On the other spectrum, some people might become stingy at later stages. To combat these problems, if money is taught to be managed, people learn how to save and invest appropriately. Subsequently, this can boost the economy of the country and lead to increase of the GDP. Furthermore, calculating taxes is a big part of our countries to allow its growth. Being able to correctly calculate it is a skill in itself.
On the other hand, people might argue that not everything can be taught and we can learn only from experience. They could say that this is the time to learn tradtional academics and not finacne. While this could apply to a certain extent, I still think the basic awareness of being able to adeptly manage finance is a practical skill that everyone requires in this day and age where banking is a main pillar in the lives of society.
In conclusion, I fully support that children should be taught financial management as it greatly influences their lives in the future, be it with investing, saving or being able to do taxes.
