There is a widespread belief that cooperation of people is essential, as it brings about the best results through the contribution of each person. However, some disagree and consider competition more beneficial, since it provides the motivation to surpass your competitors, and I align with the view.
On the one hand, competition is significant when you pursue outstanding achievements because it is easier to achieve them with mutual effort. This way one person may specialise in a specific aspect, while another focuses on a different one and together they complement each other’s skills. A great example of successful cooperation is the European Union, where countries collaborate and support one another, providing the resources they need.
On the other hand, when people compete, their desire to outperform their competitors drives them to improve their performance, often pushing them on a higher level. For instance, runners doing a marathon, upon noticing that others start to gain speed, strive to accelerate themselves, and the same principle applies in our daily lives. I totally agree that competition offers immense advantages.
In conclusion, both the ideas of working together and competing against each other are widely shared, but from my perspective, competition leads to greater outcomes than cooperation.
