It is an undeniable fact that in the modern world, celebrities represent many causes and issues. Many individuals believe that famous personalities can help global cooperation organizations raise awareness about critical issues. However, a section of society opines that celebrities can make significant problems appear less serious. This essay will explore the various reasons for both perspectives and discuss my opinion.
To begin with, many international aid organizations aim to raise awareness globally. These organizations collaborate with celebrities who have large fan followings, which helps spread awareness about universal problems and aids in addressing crises such as pandemics. Additionally, influential figures can easily sway public opinion due to their massive supporter base. For instance, several well-known individuals have partnered with organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to promote important causes. These organizations often appoint goodwill ambassadors to engage communities worldwide. During the COVID-19 pandemic, for example, many people were concerned about vaccinations, and when our prime minister received the vaccine, it sent a strong message to the public that vaccines were safe.
On the contrary, some members of society believe that celebrities can downplay important issues. Furthermore, many stars join international aid organizations for their own publicity and to expand their fanbase, rather than to genuinely help society. For example, Shilpa Shetty collaborated with an animal welfare organization, yet she continues to consume non-vegetarian food. This suggests that her involvement was primarily for her own publicity.
In conclusion, celebrities play a significant role in society. I believe that while they can contribute to public causes, they should do so for reasons beyond self-promotion.
