It is commonly thought by some that celebrities’ contribution towards charity organizations highlights their problems, while others believe they make the issues seem insignificant. In my opinion, I believe famous people bring attention to these problems and garner public support for the organizations.
On the one hand, the involvement of famous people may divert the media’s attention from the charity organization. This is because the media industry focuses on what attracts its audience and may find it unnecessary to spotlight the issues. As a result, attention is drawn away from the problem itself and the message becomes unclear to the target audience. Moreover, some people perceive celebrities as shallow-minded individuals who are only after personal gain; therefore, they dismiss the issues celebrities promote, viewing them as insignificant.
On the other hand, some people think celebrities may draw attention to international aid organizations and I agree. The public attention garnered helps to highlight the problem and leads to a greater focus on the aid organization, attracting sponsorship and collaboration with other large-scale organizations. Additionally, famous people often have a wider reach and global recognition, which enables them to influence people all over the world. A typical example is Angelina Jolie’s work with the UN Refugee Agency has helped raise awareness about displaced communities. For this reason, an increasing number of people will become aware of the issue, and they may make donations or urge the government to provide solutions.
In conclusion, although people have varying opinions about celebrities’ involvement in international aid organizations, I think the support and influence from famous people highlight the problems these organizations face, and also draws public attention and support.
