Getting pocket money on weekly basis can be benefited to children in their future. While with these children can understand the value of money from early age, I believe that this age is not appropriate for handling a money. However, I competely disagree with this notion.
One main reason of not giving pocket money to children on weekly basis is they invest that money on wrong places. Since children do not understand what is wrong and right for them. Due to this, they may join bad companies, such as criminals, gambling, drugs. As a result, children’s mind can divert from thier education towards bad activities.
By weekly taking money from parents, this habit may lose thier interest to earn money by themselves. Because of this, they would think this is their parents responsibility to provide money to them. So, they start putting a pressure on their parents to give them pocket money. When their parents are not able to do this, they may start conflicts with them. Consequently, the relation between them may worse day by day.
However, parents can give pocket money to children on weekly basis in some conditions or restrictions . Parents should supervise them and ask them about receipts of everything, which they purchased everyday with the money. Also, parents should aware about the rest of money. In this way, children always have a fear of investing money at wrong places.
In conclusion, although pocket money can teach children the value of it, I believe that weekly basis pocket money can divert their mind towards bad habits that further lead gap between them. Therefore, if parents want to give them pocket money, they should supervise them.
